Clearly, the problem was with Comcast's DNS servers, because my wireless PCs were still using Comcast's DNS servers. The fix was simple: Tell my Linksys WRT160N router to use the OpenDNS servers. To bypass iCloud Activation in Asia, the new DNS is 104.155.220.58 To bypass iCloud Activation in other area, the new DNS is 78.109.17.60 3. After you have entered.

All lights started blinking and I get the comcast page, the garden wall page. how do I bypass this screen and use internet, I dont have a comcast account and my my modem is not modded. Will it work if get my friend's comcast username and password and activate it again thru my computer? p.s if you gonna tell me its wrong, illegal, blah blah then just save it and move on. |

NathanO join:2008-08-21 Seattle, WA | 2009-Aug-12 6:08 pm You can just call 1800-COM-CAST and they will activate it. You can also make an account on the phone |

Also, without Comcast provisioning your modem its not possible to access the internet without a modded modem, they closed up all the loopholes a long time ago. If your looking for free internet your in the wrong forums And WHEN you get caught, you will be screwed. Just save yourself the headache and the risk of being caught and just call 1-800-Comcast, they should give you a good promo deal since your a new customer. |

Once you have completed step 6, you will have successfully bypassed Comcast's garden wall/activation screen. |

I see that the pumps at the local gas station fit my gas tank, however, I have no money. Is there a way to put gas in my car without paying for it? |

Da Man 1 editjoin:2008-05-08 Hanover, PA | 2009-Aug-13 1:07 am I will because I'm curious if it works. I've read all you have to do is change the DNS server. |
Comcaster E1 @comcast.net | 2009-Aug-13 2:01 am The comment about changing DNS server is incorrect, when an unregistered modem connects to the network it gets provisioned with a walled-garden bootfile |
grazed join:2006-10-15 Havertown, PA | 2009-Aug-13 2:47 am There is -no- way to bypass the walled garden config. Changing DNS servers will not remedy this. Nothing will. The only way to do so is to use modded modems/firmware. And when you do that... well... It starts to get illegal. |

They can pretty much pinpoint your block in your neighborhood and go from there. Do a trace route to somewhere and you can see how close it gets at the first hop. If you really want free internet, just go get a wi-fi card and the wi-fi radar program and let it scan for open wi-fi in your neighborhood. My friend has been doing that for over 2 years. |

They would be able to trace it to the node, not your block. It would be like a needle in a haystack. You could hack your modem, but I don't recommend it because you will get caught. Your first hop is shared with a few thousand other people. Unless they went door to door for thousands of customers and disconnected their internet one by one to see, they would most likely never know who it is. |

AFAIK it is not a question of DNS, more so the mac being approved on their end.So these reports would be incorrect? The way these 'hacked' modems get online is by forcing whatever config the user chooses to be downloaded and used from comcast's tfp server. After that is done, the modem connects, and since the custom firmware puts it off the grid, (comcast cannot poll the modem) there is no way for the modem to be flagged as unregistered. It's a simple concept really. |

2009-Aug-13 9:29 am Since you have decided to bypass paying for service, why not just find an open wireless service from a neighbor? | |

Discussion of any actual 'howto' in response to your question would violate that rule.p.s if you gonna tell me its wrong, illegal, blah blah then just save it and move on. |

Call them and they will provision it for you over the phone. There is -no- way to bypass the walled garden config. I have done this when swapping out a modem in the past. I did not have to download and install their software in order to get the modem working once I called them. |
